Recomendaciones musicales de Quattuor

Esta semana los cuatro administradores de Quattuor Culturae os vamos a recomendar una canción cada uno para que podáis disfrutar de algunas de nuestras melodías favoritas.

Pol Serrano: Os presento a Macklemore, un rapero estadounidense con mucho ritmo. Mi canción preferida se llama Can’t Hold Us.

Alicia de Miguel: De mis muchas canciones favoritas, os voy a dejar un tema que nunca me cansa, y desde luego relaja y da buen rollo. Espero que os guste, aunque seguro que muchos lo conocéis.

Carlos Cardona: Difícil no, lo siguiente. La verdad es que pongo uno de los temas que más suelo escuchar pero que, realmente, no puede ocupar un espacio como es el de “mi canción favorita”. Ya me diréis vosotros si tiene puntos para merecer tal calificativo. Ojo al dato: soy un ferviente adicto a las bandas sonoras.

I’m sorry, but I don’t want to be an emperor. That’s not my business. I don’t want to rule or conquer anyone. I should like to help everyone - if possible - Jew, Gentile - black man - white. We all want to help one another. Human beings are like that. We want to live by each other’s happiness - not by each other’s misery. We don’t want to hate and despise one another. In this world there is room for everyone. And the good earth is rich and can provide for everyone. The way of life can be free and beautiful, but we have lost the way.

Greed has poisoned men’s souls, has barricaded the world with hate, has goose-stepped us into misery and bloodshed. We have developed speed, but we have shut ourselves in. Machinery that gives abundance has left us in want. Our knowledge has made us cynical. Our cleverness, hard and unkind. We think too much and feel too little. More than machinery we need humanity. More than cleverness we need kindness and gentleness. Without these qualities, life will be violent and all will be lost....

In the 17th Chapter of St Luke it is written: “the Kingdom of God is within man” - not one man nor a group of men, but in all men! In you! You, the people have the power - the power to create machines. The power to create happiness! You, the people, have the power to make this life free and beautiful, to make this life a wonderful adventure.

Then - in the name of democracy - let us use that power - let us all unite. Let us fight for a new world - a decent world that will give men a chance to work - that will give youth a future and old age a security. By the promise of these things, brutes have risen to power. But they lie! They do not fulfil that promise. They never will!

Dictators free themselves but they enslave the people! Now let us fight to fulfil that promise! Let us fight to free the world - to do away with national barriers - to do away with greed, with hate and intolerance. Let us fight for a world of reason, a world where science and progress will lead to all men’s happiness. Soldiers! in the name of democracy, let us all unite!

Espectáculos - Goyo Jiménez en Barcelona

Como esta semana en España estamos todos con un poco de bajón y mal estar, ya sea por la astronómica cifra de parados, por los innumerables casos de corrupción o porque los alemanes nos han endosado cuatro goles (ya seas barcelonista o madridista) os proponemos un plan para levantar el ánimo y reírnos un poco de todo.

El humorista Goyo Jiménez está en Barcelona en el Teatro Chocita del Loro-Senator con su último trabajo, En verdad os digo, un monólogo de algo más de hora y media en el que no se puede dejar de reír.

En su último trabajo, el cómico de Melilla, como él mismo se describe siempre: "experto en asuntos americanos", hace un ácido análisis sobre la mentira. Escrito, dirigido e interpretado por él.

El propio Jiménez resume su último espectáculo con estas palabras: "¿Estás harto de que te mientan constantemente? ¿Cansado de que te sueltan patrañas cada dos por tres? ¿Hastiado de que te engañen como a un chino, cuando además todos sabemos que esa expresión es incierta, pues a los chinos no se les engaña con facilidad, a no ser que seas otro chino, el chino que manda en China, quiero decir, ése que los tiene a todos engañados? Si la respuesta es afirmativa, éste es tu espectáculo, porque gracias a En verdad os digo aprenderás no sólo a darte cuenta de cuándo te la están dando con queso, sino a escaquearte de las consecuencias de la mentira. ¡Incluso aprenderás a vengarte del cabroncete que te la quería colar, soltándole tú una bola aún más gorda!".

En verdad os digo estará en la ciudad condal hasta el 1 de junio.
